Despite the fact that we still do not have a corrected text of the new translation of the Roman Missal, Cardinal Francis George announced today that all U.S. parishes must use the new texts a year from this December.
There's going to be a lot of commentary on this, but one problem is going to be logistical. Seven publishers have expressed interest in publishing the missal. As a veteran of the publication of the revised lectionary in the late '90s, I can testify to how difficult it will be to get the texts out in time for anyone to them. There will be correction after correction, even to the official text, and everything–everything–has to go through the USCCB worship committee office.
