A publication of the Claretian Missionaries, U.S. Catholic recently celebrated its 90th anniversary with a celebratory event at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. From its beginning in 1935—then under the title of The Voice of St. Jude—the publication has emphasized social justice and striven to represent a range of diverse Catholic voices, especially those that go unheard.
Issues such as racial justice, women’s rights, and labor justice have long been central to the vision of U.S. Catholic. More recently the magazine has championed ecological justice and LGBTQ+ equality and been a courageous voice for the rights of immigrants, refugees, and migrants.
These awards from the Catholic Media Association highlight the U.S. Catholic team’s ongoing dedication to this mission, as well as the talent of the writers and artists who contribute to the publication’s print and digital offerings.
