The passing of Pope Francis this month marked the end of a transformative time in the church. His leadership drew both support and criticism from Catholics across the spectrum of church life, but from his emphasis on environmental stewardship in Laudato Si’ to his outreach to the marginalized, Francis reshaped how many viewed the papacy.
As Catholics the world over process this loss and prepare for a new pope, we would like to ask our readers to reflect on what aspects of Francis’s papacy most deeply influenced their own faith journey and what direction they hope to see the church take in the years ahead.
Did Pope Francis’ papacy bring the church closer to its gospel mission?
What aspects of his teaching most resonated with you?
Are there any ways in which his papacy came up short of your expectations?
What did Pope Francis mean to you? U.S. Catholic wants to know.
