The Better Part

Luke 10:38−42
Poetry
It seems we women
must always choose
between dreaming
and cleaning up.

Hear our visitor chide me,
gently, but praise
my sister, who’s rapt
at whatever he says,

as he crumbles the bread
I just brought him
between his fingers,
leaving crumbs on the floor.
