Christopher S. Gurley Jr. is a Ph.D. candidate in the Religious Studies Department at Stanford University. He specializes in race/racialization in American religious history, with a focus on African American history and Catholicism. He is a proud alumnus of Tennessee State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science. He later pursued graduate studies in theological studies, church history, and American history, earning degrees from Vanderbilt Divinity School, Yale Divinity School, and the History Department at Stanford University.
