Courting the prolife vote

With news of Bristol Palin's pregnancy–at five months, it could hardly have been a secret to anyone–the presidential race is acquiring a stranger-than-fiction feel. What I've found funniest is the way the media has been running to every Christian conservative leader to ask what they "think about" the pregnancy of the GOP's VP candidate's unmarried teenage daughter. How many permutations of "we're glad she's keeping the child" are there?

What's really interesting is how the issue of abortion has asserted itself once again, with a candidate who chose to deliver a baby with Down's syndrome when many people choose not to, and a teenage daughter expecting in just four months, with the expectation that she and the baby's father will marry (though that remains to be seen).

And the big question: How is all this going to play out among religious voters?
