For the third year in a row, the Catholic Media Association has named U.S. Catholic “Magazine of the Year” at its annual conference and awards ceremony, held this year in Atlanta. The magazine, which is published by the Claretians, was awarded first place in the “National General Interest Magazine” category.
The judges commended U.S. Catholic for standing out in its presentations and use of mixed visuals. “Relevant, engaging articles provide thoughtful insights, perspectives on a breadth of current and historical issues,” they wrote. “In-depth reports, reviews, poetry, columns—all the varied elements work together to sustain interest from the front cover to the back and create a comprehensive whole.”
U.S. Catholic also placed in the following categories:
- Second place for best feature article: Campus culture of life, by Kelly Sankowski
- Third place for best podcast (with NETWORK): Just Politics
- Honorable mention for best online content not published in print: Creators divided over trademarking Catholic phrases, by Gabriella Patti
- Honorable mention for best essay: A creative vocation, by Cassidy Klein
- Honorable mention for writer of the Year: Don Clemmer, for his writing in both features and essays
Editor-in-chief Ferdinand Okorie C.M.F congratulated the editorial team on this achievement: “In the last three years those awards are personal and a true testament to the extraordinary brilliance and excellence of each one of you in your respective roles that collectively earn the magazine higher honors.”
