Tom Hocker, a photojournalist and industrial photographer who also sells Salvadoran folk art at thetreeoflife.com, returned to El Salvador to document life 30 years after Archbishop Oscar Romero was assassinated. This slideshow consists of photos he took in the middle of El Salvador's civil war in 1985 and photos from a November 2009 trip to the same area, La Palma.
A graduation was taking place while he was there in 2009, symbolizing the hope of El Salvador. Still, poverty still cripples the country. Hocker reflects on the differences he sees then and now in the March 2010 issue of U.S. Catholic. (Call customer service to order a copy: 800-328-6515).
